YOU are NOW ON A DIET!

What's THE most difficult thing to GIVE UP for that diet? DO TELL!
Mine would probably be savory (mac and cheese, for example)...........is yours something sweet?

Diet? Diet? Isn't that a four letter word? I try not to use four letter words, especially in my comments in blogs. I think I'll continue that policy. (Besides, if you don't like the way I look, turn around!)

No can do. No diets for me.

Hard to say, as I eat rather healthily with my veggies, fruits, and nuts as it is. I could actually stand to gain weight, rather than lose it. My metabolism is such that I can eat and eat and eat and never gain a pound (don't hate me)

I couldn't do a diet that required me to give up fried food.

Ah, beamish......

beamish. shut up and go away never to return :-)
I'd have never pegged you for a fruits/nuts kind of guy...with all the good food from where YOU ARE?
I LOVE fried food, too..........oh, do I ever.
Thankfully, fried FISH is my favorite of the FRIEDS (on a list of 10000 other favorites) but it is still FRIED!

I'm just wondering what THE hardest thing would be for me to give up. Probably Mac 'n Cheese!! Mashed potatoes? Philly Cheese steaks at the place here in LA I just discovered them in (which imports the buns FROM Philly!)

Opus, with all those kids to run after, I can't imagine you'd need a diet.!

Linda...sorry for the four letter word!!!!

Simple carbs. Sugar.

I gave sugar up about three years ago and lost about 30 pounds. I also stopped having so many headaches and just felt SO much better.

It's not just sugar, though. It's all simple carbs: white bread, pasta, pastry, cereals, etc.

It's not a fun way to eat...

Oh, and I haven't kept that up. Heh. Not at all.

I'm like Beamish, I've never had to diet. Same reason, metabolism. The only difference is, I eat anything and everything.

Now Z, surely you wouldn't banish Beamish and me. We can't help it.

I guess I'll go with fried foods too, although I love milk and drink it every day with my meals. I'd have a heck of a time giving it up.
Hey, does milk even count?

Let's make it clear; Nobody comes here and says they can eat as much and whatever they want anymore. GOT THAT? :-)
Of course, if I were fat, I'd be even MORE ticked off! I can pretty much eat whatever but watch it from time to time to maintain.

Jen, did the headaches and stuff come back when you went back on sugar?

Pris; I love milk, too...but mostly don't drink it except with chocolate cake or a great sandwich or something......
I can never figure out how people drink hot coffee with their meals.......except breakfast. I don't know why that bugs me...I guess it's what you're used to seeing your folks do or something? I love decaf AFTER a meal, though.

Cake! For me, it's cake! I'm on a non-sugar diet and not being able to have cake is killing me. I love all types of cakes... I could go for a piece of cake now :-(

Z, Mr. Pris and I can attest to the fact you look great, since we had the pleasure of meeting you and Mr. Z.

I drink my coffee after the meal. I don't even have decaf in the house. I must say I'm told I make a really good cup of coffee. No secret or anything. Just a good strong cup of coffee. I hate that flavored stuff.

Btw Z, this blog is really relaxing and fun. Ok, now can I stay? Ha, Ha!

Just kidding Z, it really is fun.

pasta, potatos and bagels.

Mostly fats: butter, sour cream, salad dressings, cheese, etc. So I can do OK on an Atkins-type diet for some time -- I'm happy as long as I can have plenty of dressing on my salad and butter or cheese on my veggies. But then I do start to get carb cravings and that ends up being my downfall. Yep, potatoes, potatoes and potatoes. And pasta.

Z - I have to agree with Beamish - fried foods.

But diets are too much trouble.

BEER is the toughest thing to give up. Not light beer of any kind (Amstel is the one exception) but the good tasting dark beers are just LOADED with calories. I'd rather drink warm water than a cheap or lite beer, but the good tasting beers are a severe weakness.

Z, I've got NE FL mapped when it comes to good food. Just the other day I had a fried Grouper sandwich that was SO good that it was like...well you know where I'm going with that one. LOL! They lightly toasted the bread with a tangy tarter sauce, and added a large, fresh fried grouper filet. It melted in my mouth. MMMMMMMM

You can't even imagine what you'll run into when you ask the people who work in a little hot dog store "what do you guys do best?"

Z,
the headaches are much worse, as well as many other symptoms, when I eat sugar.
And the thing is? I don't eat excessive amounts. I don't keep desserts and snack foods in the house.
I basically drink one soft drink per week (and that's too much). Any amount of refined sugar seems to be too much for my system. I guess it's a metabolism thing, it just makes me feel sick. I've met many people like this. It's good though, it's a good deterrant!

Carbs are SO GOOD!!

Jingo....your description of that FRIED GROUPER sandwich makes me drool...I ADORE fried fish and that sandwich just sounds like heaven. If they lightly grilled the bun first I'd have to move into the establishment forever :-)

Jen, you sure are susceptible, wow. SO many things have hidden sugar in them, too! Good luck with it xxx (by the way, I can't imagine you with 30 pounds less on her!)

Z,

I am starting to have problems with really spicy foods, but I'm willpowering it away with my love of it and occasional Rolaids. I love the medicinal effect of blasting an cold or sinus illness away with yummy goodness.

But, I'm not fruits and nuts all the time, Those all just my preferred snacks between junk food.

Z said...

Ya, wait till you're older and see how spicy foods go over :-)
I'm relieved about the fruits and nuts, I'm suspicious of people with too healthy a lifestyle!!

Beamish, I have to admit to having roasted almonds and dried cranberries together in a bowl once in a while.........
